ERHARDT Logistics’ Stevedoring Division TMGA Inaugurates New Agri-Food Facilities at the Port of Langosteira, A Coruña

On Tuesday, March 26, TMGA – Terminales Marítimos de Galicia, the stevedoring division of ERHARDT Logistics, inaugurated its new agri-food facilities at the Port of Langosteira, A Coruña.

The event was presided over by Ms. María Jesús Lorenzana, Minister of Economy, Industry, and Innovation of the Xunta de Galicia, with speeches from Mr. Martín Fernández Prado, President of the Port Authority of A Coruña; Mr. Carlos Calvelo, Mayor of Arteixo; and Mr. Patricio Erhardt, CEO of TMGA and Deputy CEO of ERHARDT Logistics.

The new closed-loop transport circuit, launched today, represents an investment of over €8 million and is part of a larger project valued at more than €45 million. The only remaining phase is the construction of new agri-food warehouses covering over 6,000 m², which will begin this year and expand the total area to 47,000 m², with an estimated storage capacity of more than 250,000 tons of agri-food products.

The new facilities will enhance operational efficiency in unloading, horizontal transport via a closed conveyor circuit, covered storage, reception, and re-shipment of solid agri-food bulk products. The terminal incorporates innovative equipment and systems that automate processes and prioritize environmental sustainability, including eco-friendly hoppers and transport systems that help reduce CO₂ emissions. Additionally, part of the facility has been built using recycled materials from the dismantled Medusa at the inner port, reflecting a commitment to circular economy and efficient resource use.

The inauguration was also attended by representatives of BUNGE, a leading global agricultural commodities group, which has maintained a strong, long-standing relationship with TMGA for over twenty-five years in providing port services for the agri-food sector. Both organizations aim to enhance supply chain efficiency, optimize costs, and ensure reliable, high-quality supply to Galicia’s agri-food industry.

With the launch of these modern facilities, the Port of A Coruña boosts its competitiveness by significantly improving operations, achieving faster turnaround times and greater bulk-handling capacity. This consolidates its position as a leader in agri-food traffic in Northwestern Spain, benefiting both Galicia’s agri-food sector and that of the wider northwest peninsula.

We congratulate the TMGA team, who over the past three years have worked tirelessly to turn this impressive engineering project into reality.
