“ERHARDT’s journey as a shipping company has been shaped through three enterprises: Naviera Eco, Tráficos Navieros, and Off-Shore-España. What follows is simply a brief synopsis of its history.”
This was how the chapter in our 125th anniversary book, under the title “Erhardt Naviera: The Sea, Our Passion,” introduced the company’s ship-owning tradition.
Now, fifty-some years later, the company is resuming its ship-owning activities with ERZOFF, a company providing offshore supply services in the Cantabrian Sea, supporting the La Gaviota maritime platform.
For many years, we have provided auxiliary services in the port of Bermeo to vessels servicing the gas platform. In 2019, we also began managing the vessel under charter.
This week, the company has taken another step forward by purchasing the BERTHA B, a 60-meter Offshore/Supply vessel that will provide material and consumables supply to the platform, as well as “standby services.” Standby services require continuous, 24/7 operation all year round, monitoring a 500-meter radius around the platform to keep unauthorized vessels away and support the helicopter transporting personnel shifts in case of any incident.
ERZOFF is a company in which ERHARDT partners with Zumaia Offshore and, in a way, continues the legacy of Off-Shore-España, which began in the 1970s in partnership with Hapag Lloyd. That company owned three vessels—Off-Bilbao, Off-Vigo, and Off-Barcelona—and also provided towing and supply services to oil platforms.
It seems the right time to add a new chapter to ERHARDT’s story, beginning a new voyage aboard the BERTHA B
